In this Circle, we are going to take a deep dive into Black Trauma and how to heal and metabolize it if you are not able to afford therapy or if you are in a position where you can’t let anyone know you are in therapy because of your family or work situation.

We are going to discuss Ancestral trauma and how we have been epigenetically encoded with trauma intergenerationally. Our Ancestors who endured the MAAFA endured significant traumas, and these traumas have been encoded and have created epigenetic changes in Black people, causing us to act out and act up in ways that are not conducive to the laws of Maat.

Think Of Epigenetics As A Collective Memory

Imagine your body is like a huge library full of recipe books (your DNA). These recipe books have instructions for making everything in your body. But not every recipe needs to be used all the time; some are for special occasions, some are for everyday meals, and some are for when you're sick.

Now, epigenetic tags are like little sticky notes or bookmarks that the librarians (cells in your body) use to mark which recipes to use and which ones to ignore. There are different kinds of sticky notes:

1. Tiny Locks: These are like little locks (methyl groups) that can be put on the pages of your recipe books (DNA). When a page is locked, the librarians can't read the recipe, so it won't be used.

2. Book Covers: Imagine your recipe books have covers around them (histones). You can put different stickers or marks on the covers that tell the librarians whether a book should be opened and read or kept closed and ignored.

3. Special Notes: Sometimes, the librarians write special notes (non-coding RNAs) that can block a recipe from being read or remind the librarians about which recipes are important.

These sticky notes and bookmarks can be moved around, added, or removed based on what's happening around you, like what you eat, exercise, or how you feel. And sometimes, these changes can last a long time, even passing from parents to their kids.

So, epigenetic tags are like your body's library system, deciding which recipes to follow and which to ignore, helping everything run smoothly! When Ancestral Trauma, Genetic Trauma, Decontextualized Trauma, Vicarious Trauma, Ghosting Trauma, and Ambiguous Trauma are forced into Black bodies, it produces arrested development and a life unfulfilled. We never fully develop; we never reach our highest potential.

Good News

The epigenetics of trauma can be reduced and, in many cases, reversed. We will explore the various ways in which the B1 community can implement self-mental health care to deal with these invisible wounds of war waged against our people when we were interrupted by 2nd frequency people.
